Toyota Innova Crysta spied on Indian roads for the first time

Launch rumored to take place in mid-2016.

Ahead of its rumored launch in mid-2016, Team-BHP reader Parthasarathig has photographed a couple of Toyota Innova Crystas testing on Indian roads for the first time without any disguise.

Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016, the Innova Crysta is the second generation of the regular Toyota Innova, which has its production discontinued. Bookings for Innova Crysta are being unofficially taken at several dealerships for INR 50,000, and are promising its delivery in May 2016.

The Innova Crysta will be one of the most feature-packed MPVs in the market, when it launches this year. It measures 4,735 mm long, 1,830 mm wide and 1,795 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. Compared to the first gen Innova, it has grown by 150 mm in length, 70 mm in width and 35 mm in height, although the wheelbase is identical.

As of now, TKM has not confirmed the engine lineup of Toyota Innova Crysta. The Indonesian-spec Toyota Innova is available with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 139 PS and 183 Nm of torque and a 2.4-liter GD diesel engine producing 149 PS and 342 Nm of torque with the 5-speed manual transmission or 360 Nm of torque with the 6-speed automatic transmission. Also on the cards is a bigger 2.8-liter GD diesel variant with 177 PS, as it was spotted for the first time on the Innova at the Auto Expo.
