Toyota Innova Crysta vs Mahindra XUV500 - Comparo
Toyota Innova Crysta is now available for sale.
Given that the new Toyota Innova Crysta does not have any rivals in the premium mid-size MPV segment, here's a comparison between it and another popular alternative - the Mahindra XUV500.
Although both of them belong in different segments, on paper, some of the technical specs are nearly similar. Being a true MPV, the Innova Crysta is longer in length and shorter in height than the Mahindra XUV500 SUV, although the latter is wider for a better presence. Also, the XUV500 has chunkier tires for better tractability off-road.
The Innova Crysta is available with two engine options: 2.4L and 2.8L, both of which are more powerful than the XUV500's sole diesel option: a 2.2L mHawk 140 diesel unit. The Innova 2.4L is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the 6-speed automatic gearbox is exclusive to the 2.8L variant. In the XUV500, there are two gearbox options for the same engine: 6-speed MT and AT. Being a large SUV, the XUV500 is also offered with an AWD system.
Both models offer 7-seats across three rows, although the Innova Crysta has an 8-seater option where the 2nd row captain seats are replaced with a 60:40 split bench seat. Both are generously equipped, featuring touchscreen infotainment systems, ambient lighting, leather upholstery with power adjustability (driver only), projector headlamps, and push button start.
