The company is yet to reveal the prices of the Innova Crysta petrol variant.

The engine under the hood is likely to be the 2.7L VVT-i engine sourced from the Middle East-spec Toyota Innova, which produces 164 hp and 25 kgm of torque. It will be paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox as standard, and send power to the rear wheels - identical arrangement to the diesel variants.

This is seen as a temporary solution to the ban on diesel-powered vehicles that displace over 2000 cc in Delhi NCR by the Supreme Court, which has affected sales of the Innova and Fortuner lineup. Speaking of the Fortuner, the next generation model is also expected to offer the same petrol option when it arrives in India.

Despite the ban, however, Toyota sold 7,500 units of the Innova Crysta in June, contributing to the 25 percent growth of overall sales for the company. In May, the Innova Crysta managed to overtake the Maruti Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Creta to become the top selling UV as well as 9th best selling vehicle of the month.
