The launch of a petrol variant was prompted by the ban on diesel-powered vehicles that displace over 2000 cc in Delhi NCR by the Supreme Court, which has affected sales of the Innova and Fortuner lineup. Speaking of the Fortuner, the next generation model is also expected to offer the same petrol option when it arrives in India.
