Toyota Innova X variant launched in Malaysia
UMW-Toyota Motor has introduced the Toyota Innova X as the new range-topping variant of the second-gen model in Malaysia. The Innova X has expanded the MPV’s number of configurations to four. The Toyota Innova X looks heavily inspired by the Toyota Innova Touring Sport.
The Toyota Innova X is a more crossover-type variant of the Toyota Innova. In equipment, the X option distinguishes itself with feature additions such as black leather seats, 6-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat, Captain’s (second-row) seats with One Touch Tumble, and larger alloy rims. The Innova X has LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights and LED fog lamps also.
As for styling, the Toyota Innova X is dressed as a sportier and more rugged offering. Front bumper spoiler with chrome ornament, black wheel arch cladding and side moulding, side skirts with chrome trim, 17-inch black alloy wheels wrapped with 215/55R17 tyres, black tailgate garnish and rear bumper spoiler with chrome highlights give the MPV a distinctive styling.
Like any other Malaysian-spec Toyota Innova, the Toyota Innova X is powered by the 1TR-FE engine. The 2.0-litre Dual VVT-i four-cylinder petrol engine produces 139 PS at 5,600 rpm and 183 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, and these figures should not change for the X variant. Efficiency may have taken a toll, though, as the modifications have made the MPV 20-40 kg heavier than the regular Innova available in E and G grades. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard in the Innova X.
