1. What is Toyota Raize?

Toyota Raize is essentially a compact SUV from the Japanese carmaker for the international market. The compact SUV is a badge-engineered twin to the Daihatsu Rocky that was showcased at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. According to Toyota, the name Raize is derived from a combination of “Rise” and ‘Raise” that signifies the “active car that energies everyday life”.

Toyota has just brought the new Raize to the public and introduced it alongsize the Daihatsu Rocky sibling in the Indonesian market. The compact SUV has created quite a buzzword at the time of its launc in this country.

The new Toyota Raize is available in three variants: 1.2G, 1.0 Turbo G and 1.0 Turbo GR Sport. It comes powered by two engines including a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated 3-cylinder enigne, making 88 PS of power and 112 Nm of torque. There’s a more powerful 1.0-litre turbocharged inline-three petrol mill that can put out 98 PS against 140 Nm of peak torque. The transmission options include a 5-speed Mt and a CVT (exclusive for the GR Sport version).

The Toyota Raize gets a bold styling design which features a massive grille, stylish headlamps, unique taillamps, black body cladding, 16- and 17-inch alloy wheels among others. The GR Sport version gets a sportier look with a distinct body kit, GR Sport decals and badging, blacked-out alloys along with some exclusive features on offer.

On the inside, there’s a lot of new features that will be offered. A 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SmartDeviceLink and Apple CarPlay, smart parking assist, cruise control, 17-inch wheels, powered seats, sunroof, 7.0-inch LED instrument cluster, etc. are some of the prominent features on the vehicle.

3. Is Toyota Raize Coming to India?

Until now, there’s no official information on the India launch of Toyota Raize. The compact SUV will unlikely come to India. However, we do expect it to form the base for the mid-size SUV planned by the Suzuki. There might be the platform-sharing venture but for a different interior setup and look. So it’s not like the Baleno wearing Toyota badge.
