Toyota has started dispatching the 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado from its Tahara plant in Japan, a spy shot posted by Instagram user fj.yoshida has revealed. The new model is just days away from its Japanese launch.
The 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado features a comprehensively redesigned exterior and interior. Most amount of changes on the outside are at the front. The new headlamps with LED lighting given an aggressive look to the face. The bumper, vertical bars and fog lamps looks more angular now. All in all, the new front of the SUV makes it it look very imposing. At the rear, the tweaked tail lamps are darker, and the bumper and skid plate are also restyled.
The 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado has a fresh interior with a new steering wheel borrowed from the bigger and mightier Toyota Land Cruiser 200, revised centre console, redesigned instrument panel and a new infotainment system among other changes.
The current Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is available with a variety of engines globally, including the 2TR-FE 2.7-litre four-cylinder petrol, 7GR-FKS 3.5-litre V6 petrol, 1GR-FE 4.0-litre V6 petrol, 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre four-cylinder, diesel, 1KD-FTV 3.0-litre four-cylinder diesel and 5L-E 3.0-litre four-cylinder diesel units. It is offered in three- and five-door versions. While both smaller and bigger versions will continue, any changes to their engine line-up are currently unknown. Japanese reports suggest the possibility of the Toyota Fortuner's 2GD-FTV 2.4-litre diesel engine joining the list of options.
The second facelift to the fourth-gen Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will bring the Toyota Safety Sense P safety suite to it. This means that it would feature Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection function, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist function, Automatic High Beams and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Availability of TSS-P may vary in different countries according to prevailing laws and the infrastructure there.
