Toyota Yaris ATIV leaks out ahead of 15 August launch in Thailand
Last week, Toyota Motor Thailand released a teaser of the Toyota Yaris ATIV. In the latest, the economy sedan's exterior images have leaked online, courtesy Headlightmag. Toyota will launch the Yaris ATIV in Thailand on 15 August, 2017.
As expected, the Toyota Yaris ATIV has a Toyota Corolla-inspired design at the front and rear. Up front, horizontal LED DRLs are placed between the headlamps and the black grille. Like on the Toyota Camry ESport, there's red highlighting on the front bumper. At the rear, the back glass smoothly flows into the short bootlid and the large wraparound tail lamps give a sporty look to the car.
As the Toyota Yaris ATIV's name suggests, it is based on the Toyota Yaris platform. Under the hood is the 1.2L 3NR-FE Dual VVT-i engine. This unit produces 86 PS at 6,000 rpm and 108 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Power is sent to the wheels via a continuously variable transmission.

The Toyota Yaris ATIV will slot below the Toyota Vios, and it will get the Eco Car status making it eligible for subsidies. Besides 7 airbags, a first for an Eco Car, safety features should include ABS, EBD, BA, VSC and HAC. Toyota will showcase the Yaris ATIV at the Big Motor Sale 2017 that takes place from 19-27 August, 2017.
