Toyota Yaris TRD Sportivo edition showcased at GIIAS 2018, India bound?
The Toyota Yaris (Toyota Vios) TRD Sportivo edition was showcased at the GIIAS 2018 last week. As seen in these images, the sedan gets the full TRD treatment for a sportier appearance, with mechanicals left unchanged.
The front sees a red highlight for the bumper complemented with an underlip spoiler. The side profile sees larger, diamond cut alloy wheels, side skirts and a piano-black finish for the wing mirrors, pillars and the roof. The rear gets a bootlid spoiler, TRD badges on the bootlid, and a sportier bumper with a faux diffuser.
Launched in April this year in India, the Toyota Yaris averages sales of 1,936 units/month. Rivals Honda, Maruti and Hyundai manage to sell twice this figure with their respective products. Keeping this in mind, and the upcoming festive season, Toyota Kirloskar Motor could think of introducing TRD accessories or even a TRD variant to bring more customer interest to the vehicle.
All variants of the Yaris in India are powered by the 2NR-FE, four-cylinder, Dual VVT-i 1.5-liter petrol engine capable of 107 PS and 140 Nm of torque. All variants are offered with a 6-speed manual or a 7-step CVT. The manual variant claims a mileage of 17.1 km/l while the CVT returns a higher 17.8 km/l.
