The recall issued by NHTSA includes the following motorcycles from the Triumph Bonneville and Street range (production dates mentioned in brackets):

  • 2017-2019 Triumph Bonneville T100 (June 20, 2016 – November 03, 2018)
  • 2017-2019 Triumph Bonneville T100 Black (April 20, 2016 – October 29, 2018)
  • 2016-2019 Triumph Bonneville T120 (December 15, 2015 – October 29, 2018)
  • 2016-2019 Triumph Bonneville T120 Black (December 15, 2015 – October 29, 2018)
  • 2017-2018 Triumph Street Cup (July 22, 2016 – January 26, 2018)
  • 2017-2018 Triumph Street Scrambler (November 28, 2016 – February 28, 2018)
  • 2016-2018 Triumph Street Twin (October 21, 2015 – March 01, 2018)

The clutch cable on the affected models could come in contact with the main harness sheath and cause damage to wiring, which could lead to a loss of electrical power to various electrical circuits. The headstock tidy (guide) situated behind the headstock on the left-hand side of the main frame is used to position the clutch cable and main harness. Due to this, the headlight or indicator lighting could malfunction, or engine power could be lost without warning, which could lead to a crash. The affected part would be replaced with a new version free of charge (parts and labour).

As per the timeline issues by the NHTSA, owners complained about non-functioning headlamps, turn signals and engine stalls in November 2018. Following the complaints, Triumph’s Quality Department conducted an investigation on specific Bonneville family models.
