The Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC has started reaching showrooms in India. However, its prices will be available on Tuesday, 28 May. We expect the off-road spec motorcycle to be costlier than the Triumph Speed Twin that retails at INR 9.46 lakh*. Its price may fall in the INR 11-12 lakh* range.

Triumph Motorcycles has brought the base (XC) variant of the Scrambler 1200 in the Indian market, not the XE premium variant. The XE variant could be launched later if there's enough demand. Some of the extra features on the XE variant include Off-Road Pro riding mode (bringing the total number to six as against five on the XC) and Optimised Cornering ABS and Traction Control. The XE model also gets handguards with aluminium brace, Brembo MCS lever and gold colour for the front forks.
The XC variant, which will soon be available at the showrooms across the country, packs five riding modes - Road, Rain, Sport, Off-Road and Rider-Configurable. Both variants mount the same 270° crank angle parallel-twin cylinder, 1,200 cc, liquid-cooled, 8-valve, SOHC engine that makes 89 hp of max power at 7,400 rpm and 110 Nm of peak torque at 3,950 rpm.
Hardware features include 45 mm Showa upside-down forks and Öhlins twin-spring piggyback shocks at the front and back respectively – both adjustable and rated with 200 mm travel. Stopping power comes from twin 320 mm Brembo discs with Brembo M50 4-piston radial monobloc callipers at the front and a single 255 mm disc with Brembo 2-piston floating calliper at the rear. The motorcycle rides on a 21-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel – both featuring cross-spoke design and wrapped in tubeless tyres.
Standard equipment includes a cruise control system, all LED lighting, keyless ignition and USB charger. The optional extras that can be added to the bike are Bluetooth connectivity module, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and heated grips. Triumph Motorcycles India will offer a fly screen, auxiliary lights, knuckle guards, top-box mount and panniers among other accessories as well.
