TVS Akula 310 gets new vertically stacked LCD instrumentation

The TVS Akula 310 is TVS' first fully faired bike.

The TVS Akula 310 has been spotted testing by xBHP, revealing a new vertically mounted instrumentation. Based on the TVS Akula 310 concept showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo the production version of the bike will be launched before April 2017.

The TVS Akula 310, which could be christened TVS Apache RTR300, continues with the overall design philosophy of the concept model and will be a premium offering.

The concept version was a tribute to TVS' racing team which is now more than three decades old. It was a thoroughly track focused tool with a carbon fibre body which had been wind tunnel tested and had an onboard gyro camera. The production version though will miss out on these easter eggs but continues with upside down forks up front, and the overall silhouette.

At the heart of the motorcycle is the 313 cc mill which does duty in the BMW G 310R. The liquid cooled, fuel injected mill is capable of producing 34 hp of maximum power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. The gearbox expected is a 6-speed unit.

The images also reveal a new vertically mounted LCD instrumentation panel with a shift light and various warning lights. The bike looks aggressive, especially the headlamp console which will possibly host projectors. The fairing gives the test unit a big bike feel.

The TVS Akula 310 should be priced below INR 2 lakhs and will be fighting against the KTM RC 200.
