TVS Motor Company gave the long-running TVS Apache RTR 160 a mild refresh in the form of a white colour Race Edition. Let’s see how different the bike is when compared to the all-new TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.
The TVS Apache RTR 160 2V White Race Edition features only visual changes in comparison with the standard variants. The bike gets a white paint job with red graphics. The fuel tank bears a minimalistic TVS logo, and there are TVS Racing graphics on the engine cowl and rim stickers. The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, on the other hand, borrows design cues from the RTR 200. The bike gets easy-to-reach single-piece handlebar and a single-piece seat for optimum comfort. Let’s see how the two bikes perform on paper:
Specification
TVS Apache RTR 160 2V Race Edition
TVS Apache RTR 160 4V (Carburettor variant)
Engine
159.7 cc single cylinder with air cooling
159.7 cc single cylinder SOHC mill with oil cooling
The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V gets an RTR 200-derived engine, but TVS has made changes to the mill to suit this motorcycle. It makes 1.38 PS and 1.77 Nm more than the older generation TVS Apache RTR 160. The RTR 160 4V also enjoys the benefit of oil cooling, which facilitates better cooling of the engine oil. The bike also features a superior monoshock at the rear for better handling. However, all this kit has resulted in a weight gain of 6 kilos over the RTR 160 2V.

The RTR 160 4V drum brake variant is INR 1,775 more expensive than the same variant of the older generation bike. The price difference of the disc brake variants of the two motorcycles stands at INR 2,486. For the slight premium, TVS offers a much more refreshed styling, superior engine and better cycle parts than the older generation motorcycle. The brand says it will keep the RTR 160 2V in production as long as there is demand.
