Could be introduced later in the calendar year.

A Team BHP reader has snapped these images of the TVS Jupiter testing in Coimbatore. According to the report, the Jupiters here are running on a fuel-injected engine, and one of the test scooter also sports a front disc brake, leading to speculation that TVS is planning on launching these variants.

The Jupiter is currently offered in two variants - Std and ZX.

The Jupiter was introduced in September 2013 as a rival for the Honda Activa - India's best-selling scooter. While the Activa family has progressed with new variant additions like the Activa 125, Activa i and the Activa 3G, the Jupiter has remained the same since launch, barring introduction of special editions of course.

The disc brake equipped Jupiter could be the manufacturer's push to appeal to safety-conscious buyers, who otherwise have to look towards the Honda range (a disc brake is offered on the Honda Activa 125 and Honda Aviator as an option). Another possibility is that TVS could be testing these variants of the Jupiter for export markets.

The fuel injected engine could be a strategic move to meet future emission regulations in India.

The current Jupiter is powered by a 109.7 cc single-cylinder engine capable of 7.88 hp at 7,500 rpm and 8 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The current variant offers 130 mm drum brakes at the front and rear. The TVS Jupiter is priced at INR 48,489 for the standard variant and INR 50,512 for the ZX variant, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
