TVS Motor Company today said that its Jupiter scooter has crossed the 500,000 unit sales landmark. Targeting male riders, the Jupiter scooter met with huge success in the market with over 3 lakh units already sold by beginning of 2015.

The 110cc scooter is primarily targeted at the male rider.

The TVS Jupiter is powered by familiar all-aluminium 110cc engine (from Wego) producing 8 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 8 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. TVS claims that the Jupiter is the quickest in its segment, with the 0-60km/h sprint taking just 7.2 seconds. The official mileage claim is at 62 km/l.

The scooter uses a V-matic transmission, and is the first to feature pass light switch in the segment. It gets a 17-liter under-seat storage compartment large enough for a helmet, and a 5.3-liter fuel tank. It is offered with six body colour options.

A celebratory edition of the Jupiter was launched in January 2015 with a beige panel and brown body colour.
