Expected to be unveiled in early 2017.

TVS Motor Company currently offers no scooters above the 110 cc class in India. However that won't be the case for long, as according to a report from Autocar Professional, the company is working on a 125 cc scooter to strengthen its scooter portfolio.

Four sources have confirmed to Autocar that the company is developing 125 cc scooter models. One of the sources said that the first 125 cc scooter could be launched in early 2017. The company is examining the case of launching this flagship model under a different brand name. Previously it was expected that this scooter would be branded Jupiter as it is well established.

"The Jupiter has established itself very well, and this clearly means that it will continue with its current momentum in the market. However, that is the only large selling scooter brand from the TVS stable, which means that the company will have to look at coming up with another scooter brand that could sell for them,” disclosed a source to Autocar Professional.

The new 125 cc scooter was previously expected to be launched as a Jupiter variant, but TVS could choose to go in with a new brand.
