TVS Akula 310 is one of the two future models.

According to a new report from The Economic Times, TVS will launch two new models in FY2017-18. Previous reports indicate that the future models mentioned in the report are the TVS Akula 310 and a new 125 cc scooter.

The TVS Akula 310 is the company's first fully-faired motorcycle that will go on sale in India. IAB's rendering previews the production version.

The TVS Akula 310 is the company's first fully-faired motorcycle that will go on sale in India. Showcased in concept form at Auto Expo 2016, the TVS Akula 310 may see its name changed to TVS Apache RTR 300 in the road-ready version as the market is already familiar with the TVS Apache series of performance models. The company's CFO said to the media last November that the bike would come within this fiscal, but the company will miss the deadline, perhaps the demonetization of high-value currency notes announced in November is to blame.

The TVS Akula 310 will get its power from a 313 cc liquid-cooled engine of the BMW G 310 R. This motor is capable of delivering 34 hp at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm on the Beemer. In the BMW G 310 R, this unit is linked to a 6-speed transmission, and the same setup is expected in the TVS Akula 310.

The TVS Graphite concept from the Auto Expo 2014 could reach production as a 125 cc scooter. IAB's rendering previews the production TVS Graphite.

The success achieved by the TVS Jupiter has got TVS interested in higher capacity scooters. A report late last year said that the company is developing a 125 cc model that will compete with the Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Access 125 and the Mahindra Gusto 125.

The TVS Graphite concept from Auto Expo 2014 could reach production as the 125 cc scooter. Earlier it was expected that TVS may launch the 125 cc scooter under the Jupiter brand as the name has already well established in the market, but the company could be considering a new branding for this model.
