TVS sold 4,500 units of BMW G310R to BMW Motorrad in FY17 - Report

The BMW G310R is manufactured at TVS’ Hosur assembly plant.

A report in Economic Times states that TVS Motor has delivered 4,500 units of the BMW G310R to BMW Motorrad in the financial year 2016-17. The company aims to increase these numbers this fiscal with the launch of the G310R in India later in 2017 certain to boost the volume.

TVS BMW G310R is the most accessible BMW motorcycle and is expected to be launched in India later in 2017.

The BMW G310R is the smallest BMW Motorrad motorcycle on sale now and was developed by the German brand in Munich. The bike has been aimed primarily at developing nations like India, Brazil, and ASEAN region. It is the first motorcycle developed as a part of the joint venture signed by TVS and BMW in April 2013 for low displacement motorcycles.

The platform and powertrain will also be used in an adventure tourer, the BMW G310GS, which was unveiled at EICMA 2016. The second bike was slated for a launch in 2017 (H2-2017) but is now delayed with the possible date in 2018. The engine though will also be used in the upcoming TVS Apache RR 310S which is the production version to the TVS Akula 310 concept, that comes out before July.

Through rollouts in markets including India, the BMW G310R volumes will go up from the 4,500 units of last fiscal.

TVS in the financial year 2016-17, sold 2,489,773 two-wheelers which is a gain of 12.69 percent on year on year basis.
