IndianAutosBlog.com has reliably learnt that the TVS Star City+ will be launched in May. The motorcycle will be the first model from TVS since the Phoenix 125 was launched in October 2012.

The Star City+ will be built on the same platform that is used to underpin the Phoenix 125. It will also use the same 110 cc engine that is used in the TVS Wego and the TVS Jupiter scooters. While the engine makes 7.88 hp for the Jupiter and 8 hp for the Wego, power has been very slightly hiked, to 8.3 hp, for the Star City+.

The engine for the Star City+ makes 8.3 hp at 7,000 rpm and produces peak torque of 8.7 Nm at 5,000 rpm. It is mated to a 4-speed constant mesh gearbox. Torque output has also been increased, as the engine makes 8 Nm for both the scooter models at 5,500 rpm.

In terms of features, the bike gets a semi-digital speedometer cluster, stainless steel muffler guard, chrome finished handlebar, coloured shock absorbers, electric start, alloy wheels, power/economy mode, service indicator, number plate illuminated lamp and a dual tone seat.

The Star City+ was shown at the Auto Expo 2014 where it was showcased alongside the TVS Scooty Zest, which is also likely to be launched soon.
