Report - TVS sets timeframe for Victor, new Apache RTR and Scooty Zest launches
India's fourth largest two wheeler maker TVS will launch a new product every quarter for the next three years, Mr. Venu Srinivasan, Chairman and MD, TVS Motor Company, has said.
The company hopes that the spree of launches would earn it a place on the podium which is currently occupied by Hero Motocorp, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India and Bajaj Auto.
TVS says that the delay in new product launches was "by design and not by accident". The existing products have generated a goo d market response and hence TVS didn't feel the necessity to rush through its launches.
According to the company, a high demand for the TVS Star City meant that the new Victor's market introduction had to be pushed from September to December. Likewise, the launch of the Scooty Zest has been postponed from June to August owing to a good demand for the existing Scooty Pep+.
The next gen TVS Apache RTR which was previewed by the brawny TVS Draken - X21 concept at the Auto Expo is slated to be launched in the last quarter of 2014.
While the commuter segment has always been the most important part of the Indian two wheeler market, the automatic scooter and small displacement sportsbike segments are flourishing. Having a new product lined up in each of these segments would certainly help TVS pick up more market share, which currently stands at 12.6 percent.
