UM products to get dual-channel ABS by June 2019 – Report

UM Lohia Two-wheelers is yet to announce the availability of the ABS-equipped variants of its products. While we await an official announcement, a report from BikeDekho claims that the two-wheeler brand will launch the ABS-equipped Renegade Sports S, Renegade Commando, Renegade Commando Mojave and Renegade Commando Classic motorcycles by June 2019.

UM range of motorcycles is expected to receive the safety net of dual-channel ABS by June 2019. The ABS-equipped models are expected to carry a premium of INR 15,000 over the non-ABS models.

The report also adds that UM Lohia Two-wheelers will expand its product portfolio with the introduction of the Renegade Duty S and the Renegade Sports S Vegas Edition around the same time. Regular readers would know that the Renegade Duty S and the Renegade Sports S Vegas Edition were showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The complete UM range is expected to receive dual-channel ABS, and thus the prices could witness an increase of approximately INR 15,000 over the non-ABS models.

Apart from the addition of ABS, all other specifications remain identical to the non-ABS variants. The Renegade Sports S and the Renegade Commando range draws power from 79.5 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke engine that is available in both, carburettor and fuel-injection system. The carburettor variant makes 23.7 PS of maximum power and 23 Nm of peak torque. The fuel-injected model, on the other hand, delivers a relatively higher 25.15 PS of maximum power while the peak torque remains at 23 Nm. The engine uses a six-speed gearbox.

The Duty S comes with a relatively smaller 223cc air-cooled engine that makes 17.2PS at 8,000 rpm and 17Nm of peak torque at 5,000 rpm. The carburettor system was introduced to offer the Renegade Sports S and the Renegade Commando models at a relatively lower price tag. The Sports and Commando range competes against the Royal Enfield 350 bikes and the new Jawa motorcycles. The BS-VI range will feature fuel-injection tech, and the carburettor variant will most definitely be discontinued from April 2020. All models use conventional telescopic front forks at the front and twin-sided springs at the rear to perform the shock absorption tasks.

UM Lohia Two-wheelers will reportedly expand its product portfolio with the launch of the Renegade Duty S and the Renegade Sports S Vegas Edition (pictured).
