PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) has launched the new Honda Beat POP ESP in Indonesia. Honda has updated the scooter with new graphics, alloy wheel design and tubeless tyres.

As on September 2017, Honda has sold over 12 million units of the Beat series since it was first launched in June 2008.

The Honda Beat POP ESP features pixel-themed stripe graphics on the bodywork, with two-tone colours. The new 14-inch alloy wheels are shod with tubeless tyres for better puncture resistance. The scooter comes in four colour options: Black Harmony and Symphony White Blue for CW and CBS (Combi Brake System) variants; and Acoustic Black and Groovy Red White for CW and CBS-ISS (Idling Stop System) variants. With the new scooter, Honda aims to capture the requirements of the urban youth.

The 108.2cc single cylinder SOHC engine comes with Honda’s eSP (Enhanced Smart Power) technology, and fuel injection. It puts out 8.68 PS of power at 7,500 rpm, and 9.01 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine comes with an ACG Starter, which ensures silent starts. The engine also features Idling Stop System (ISS). The ISS feature is capable of shutting down the engine when it idles for more than 3 seconds; and the rider only needs to twist the throttle to turn it on again.

From January to September 2017, the Beat series accounts to 43% of total national scooter sales.

Other notable features include automatic side stand switch, which prevents the engine from switching on while the stand is out; and brake lock to help the scooter park on an incline. The scooter rides on telescopic front fork, and rear monoshock.
