Updated Toyota Yaris launched, priced more affordably from INR 8.65 lakh

To give a boost to the sluggish sales of Toyota Yaris, especially considering the festive season is just around the corner, the company has launched an updated Yaris in the market, with prices ranging from INR 8.65-14.07 lakh*. The sedan is now more affordable by INR 66,000 as previously the entry-level trim started at INR 9.29 lakh*.

The Yaris now has three additional variants - J (Optional), G (Optional) and V (Optional), which have been introduced to make it more affordable and add flexibility to the package. The J (Optional) is the entry-level trim, followed by regular J trim. The G (optional) is placed between the J and G trims, while V (option) sits between the V and VX trim.

In comparison to the existing J and G trims which get seven airbags as standard, the new J (Optional) and G (Optional) trims only get three airbags. Moving on to the new V (Optional) trim, it gets dual-tone colour scheme, new diamond-cut alloy wheels, leatherette seats, and a black finish for the grille and wing mirrors in addition to the regular V trim.

The G trim now comes devoid of the alloy wheels, while the V trim now comes with a 7.0-inch touchscreen (without Wi-Fi, Mirror Link, HDMI input and an SD card slot) which was previously exclusive to the top VX trim. On the other hand, features like navigation function and gesture control remain exclusive to the top-spec VX trim. Along with the now-standard alloy wheels throughout the variant list, all variants now also come driver and co-driver seat-belt reminder, rear parking sensors and a speed alert system.

Mechanically, the car remains unchanged and continues to feature the 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i four-cylinder engine which delivers 109 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 140 Nm. This engine can be had with a 6-speed MT or a CVT.
