The Vespa 150 series (pictured) and the Aprilia SR150 range will feature a single-channel ABS setup.

The Vespa 150 is available in three trims – VXL, SXL and Elegante, priced at INR 92,722*, INR 96,647* and INR 1.03 lakh*, respectively. On the other hand, the Aprilia SR150 is available in two versions – Standard and Race, that costs INR 71,533* and INR 74,794*, respectively. With the introduction of the ABS, the prices of both the scooters, we estimate, will increase by around INR 10,000 approximately.

The Aprilia SR150 is the only 150cc performance scooter in India that accounts for sales of over 2,000 units per month. Although the Vespa 150 uses the same engine, it is an elegant modern-classic scooter that does not have any competition. The overall Vespa brand (including the 125cc variants) clocks sales of around 5,000 units monthly.

The Vespa 150 range is powered by a 150cc 3-valve, air-cooled engine that produces 11.4 bhp of power at 7,000 rpm and 11.5 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. On the other hand, the Aprilia SR150 uses a 154.8cc, single-cylinder, 3-valve motor that produces 10.25 bhp of power at 6,750 rpm and 11.4 Nm of peak torque at 5,000 rpm. Both the engines are mated to a CVT.

The Aprilia SR150 ABS variants feature MRF Nylogrip Zapper tyres instead of the VEE rubber on the regular models.

The Vespa 150, despite having a steel monocoque construction, weighs at 114 kg (kerb), while the Aprilia SR150 has a kerb weight of 122 kg. The engine of the SR150 is tuned for shorter gearing and linear power delivery.

The Vespa 150 and the Aprilia SR150 receive a cost-effective single-channel ABS unit as against the more expensive dual-channel ABS setup.
