New Vespa ZX 125 with Combi Braking System spotted at dealership - Report

Motoring portal Bikewale reports that the Vespa ZX 125 has landed in India to replace the LX 125. The new Vespa ZX 125 was seen with combi braking system (CBS), a feature that is mandatory on all two-wheelers with a displacement of up to 125 cc.

The Vespa ZX 125 will replace the LX 125. The 125 cc scooter has been priced at INR 77,481 and INR 81,981 for the drum and disc variants respectively.

The Vespa ZX 125 will be available in two variants – front drum brake or disc brake. The drum version can be purchased for INR 77,481, while the disc-equipped model will set you back by INR 81,981 – both ex-showroom prices. The Vespa LX 125, as regular readers would know, was sold with drum brake only.

In terms of styling, the ZX 125 carries a retro styling that is associated with Vespa branded scooters. The fascia features a round headlight with a chrome mask. The front fender gets a chrome garnishing that adds a neat contrast to the single-tone paint of the scooter. Chrome treatment can also be seen on rearview mirror housing, pillion grab rail, brake levers and exhaust heat shield. The cockpit features a semi analogue instrument cluster.

The Vespa ZX 125 is propelled by the same 125 cc engine as the Vespa LX 125. This single-cylinder, fan-cooled motor with a carburettor makes 9.76 bhp of maximum power and 10.6 Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a CVT. It will be upgraded to meet BS-VI emission norms next year. The next-generation Vespa scooters would benefit from a fuel-injection system to comply with the more stringent emission norms.

Stopping power, as mentioned above, comes from drum brakes on both wheels on the base variant, while the premium variant comes with a disc at the front. Shock absorption tasks are performed by single-sided arm hydraulic unit on the front and a hydraulic shock absorber at the rear.
