To be used as a patrol cruiser.

According to MotorBeam, the Ford EcoSport has been chosen as a patrolling unit, after the state's recent acquisition of close to 200 new vehicles, which includes the Toyota Innova.

The Trend diesel trim has been chosen for the Vijawayada Police-liveried Ford EcoSport.

EcoSport, which has been averaging about 4,000 units per month sales, has been a successful product for the company. It is available in three engine options in India: a 1.5-litre petrol (available both manual and automatic gearboxes), a 1.5-litre diesel, and a 1-litre turbocharged petrol. Out of the three, the AP Government has chosen the diesel version in the Trend trim, which comes with basic features like ABS, 15-inch wheels, body-coloured bumpers, adjustable steering wheel, power windows, and manual air-conditioning.

At 3,999 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width, and 1,708 mm in height, the EcoSport isn't the most spacious of SUVs on the market, but the ease of driving (car-like), small-ish turning radius of 5.3 m, and 200 mm ground clearance makes it a good proposition for intra-city use, even on slightly broken tarmac.

The EcoSport was launched in 2013, and has received a great amount of success since then.

As for the engine, in consumer spec form, the 1.5-litre diesel engine makes 89 hp of power at 3,750 rpm and 204 Nm of torque between 2,000 and 2,750 rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox but lacks an all-wheel drive system.
