Volvo has started locally assembling the Volvo S90 in India, an image posted by Team-BHP forum member volkman10 has revealed. According to the forum member, the company had completed rolling pre-production units of the car off the assembly line late last year.

The Volvo S90 is available in India in one single configuration - D4 Inscription.

The Volvo S90 is available in India in only the Inscription grade. LED headlights, Inscription front grille in chrome finish, 18-inch ten-spoke silver/diamond cut alloy wheels, dual tailpipes and LED rear lights are some of the Volvo S90’s exterior highlights.

Inside, the executive saloon is equipped with features like Nappa leather upholstery, Linear Walnut decor inlays, front seats featuring heating, backrest massage and power adjustment with memory functions, 4-zone climate control, head-up display, 12-inch virtual instrument cluster, 9-inch Sensus touchscreen infotainment system and Bowers and Wilkins premium audio system with 19 speakers and a subwoofer.

Volvo offers the Volvo S90 in India in only the D4 model, with the 2.0-litre Drive-E diesel engine that develops 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels.

The Volvo S90 is Volvo's second locally-made passenger vehicle in India after the Volvo XC90.

Volvo assembles its passenger vehicles in India at their plant near Bangalore. Local assembly commenced with the Volvo XC90 in October last year. The company has assembled around 300 units of the SUV so far. According to a report, it is looking at localising even the Volvo V90 Cross Country, which is a niche product. At some point, it may start assembling the all-new Volvo XC60 as well. There are no plans to assemble the CMA platform-based Volvo XC40, though.

The Volvo S90 retails at INR 57,96,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). Now that the car is locally assembled, Volvo may announce a price cut next month.
