VW India teases Beetle, bookings open at INR 1 Lakh - IAB Report

VW India has also posted main features and specifications.

VW India has opened a dedicated website for the new VW Beetle, revealing the specification and features that we can expect. They have also confirmed that bookings for the niche model has opened, and prospective customers have to deposit INR 1 Lakh.

For the Indian market, the Beetle will be powered by the 1.4L TSI engine.

The new Beetle will be available in a single variant, and will be equipped with bi-xenon headlamps, 16 inch alloy wheels, power retractable ORVMs, rear spoiler, and front foglamps. Inside, it features a dual zone automatic climate control, touchscreen display, panoramic glass roof, auto dimming rear view mirror, leather upholstery, and heated front seats.

The only engine option available is a 1.4-liter TSI four cylinder petrol engine that is capable of 110 kW (147 hp). It is paired to a 7-speed DSG gearbox with paddles on the steering wheel as standard.

The Beetle will be imported through the CBU route for India.

Like the previous Beetle, the new model will be brought into the country via the CBU route. Given its niche status and feature list, it is expected to be priced between INR 30-35 Lakhs (Ex showroom, Delhi).
