0-100 km/h comes up in 9.8 seconds.

VW of Brazil showcased the Fox Pepper concept at the Sao Paulo International Motor Show in October last year. Following good response from the public and press, the German car maker has decided to put the model into production, and initial cars have now started arriving at dealerships.

The production model carries over much of the concept's design highlights: The aggressively styled front bumper with new foglight enclosures, the 15-inch 5-twin-spoke alloys, the redesigned rear bumper with a black underlip, a roof spoiler and contrasting colors for the wing mirrors are seen on this production model. However, it remains to be seen if a contrast roof color is offered to customers.

Inside, the Fox Pepper carries its sporty pretensions in the form of red door trims, red inserts for the AC vents, red stitching for the steering wheel and special branding on the door sills.

The Fox was given a facelift in Brazil in August last year, which saw the introduction of the new flat-bottomed steering wheel.

To justify its sporty exterior, Volkswagen has equipped the Fox Pepper with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder Flex-fuel engine, capable of producing 120 hp when run on ethanol. At the time of revealing the concept, VW mentioned this to be a new engine, and announced a 0-100 km/h time of only 9.8 seconds. However, this engine is also serving on the 2015 Fox (facelift) which went on sale in Brazil in August 2014.

Paired to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automated manual, the Fox Pepper is priced from 53,000 Reals (INR 10.55 lakhs).
