Is Volkswagen planning a Vento CNG for fleet operators?
Looking at Honda’s move of introducing a CNG variant of the City to make sure that at least the metros bring in some volume, the CNG option definitely caught Volkswagen India’s eye.
Our friends at Motorbash have presented us some conclusive pics of the Vento with a CNG kit testing somewhere in Pune.
Notice the CNG badge on the windshield and the temp number plate? Yes, that pretty much settles the case that the Vento CNG is definitely coming to town very soon.
Yet another interesting thing to notice is black colored mirrors and door handles. Volkswagen is possibly planning an entry level Vento CNG for the metros. This could attract attention of fleet operators leading to massive boost in sales numbers.
Of course, if the entry level variant can take the CNG technology then most probably a top variant will also carry a factory fitted CNG kit. The top variant could lure family car buyers who want to avoid the diesel clatter.
Most of the Ventos sold in India are oil burners whereas most petrol versions are exported to international markets.
Will the Vento CNG plough back some share from the Honda City CNG?
