VW Polo Lounge edition launched - Germany
Comes with cosmetic updates.
Volkswagen has launched a special Lounge edition for its Polo hatchback range in Germany, with prices starting at 15,200 Euros (INR 11.5 lakh), says a report by Polo Driver. The Lounge edition is available across the range, and comes with exterior and interior add-ons. For those who would want their Polos to be more distinguished, there's the R-Line and Lounge Plus styling packages too.
On the outside, the Lounge edition gets a gloss black grille, 15-inch alloys and tinted rear windows. On the inside, it gets contrasting silver/grey finish for the centre console, Tartan uphostery, leather wrapped steering wheel, gearknob, and hand-brake lever. 'Climatronic' climate control, auto-dimming rear view mirror (inside) and a 6-speaker infotainment system is also present.
Cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, fatigue detection system and 'coming home' headlamps which stay on for a few seconds after you leave the car in order to guide you back home from the driveway, complete the standard features list. To further differentiate it from the regular Polo, Volkswagen has also included 'Lounge' badges for the exterior and special floor mats for the interior.
Apart from this, the two styling packages, namely R-Line and Lounge Plus bring larger alloys (17-inch and 16-inch, respectively). The former comes with new bumpers and a rear spoiler, while the latter offers LED headlamps (with headlamp washer).

In India, Volkswagen updated the Polo last year with the inclusion of a new 1.5-litre diesel engine. The GT TSI and GT TDI twins were also updated with slight design changes and engine update (from the erstwhile 1.6-litre unit to the new 1.5-litre) for the latter. The car maker recently announced an increase of 11.4 per cent in production at its manufacturing facility in India.
