VW's Philippines distributor, Automobile Central Enterprise, Inc. (ACEI), has launched the Vento as the 'Polo Sedan' in the island country. The Polo Sedan is the most affordable VW in Philippines currently, and is priced at 950,000 Philippine Pesos (INR 13.2 lakhs).

The VW Polo Sedan for Philippines is available only in the top-end Highline trim with a diesel engine.

Only the top-end Highline variant of the sedan is offered, that too, only with the diesel engine. The engine is the same four-cylinder, 1.6-liter TDI unit producing 105 PS and 250 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Standard features on the Polo Sedan include 15-inch alloy wheels, ABS, dual-front airbags, and a music system with a single CD player, USB and AUX-in support with four speakers. Unlike the Indian version, the Polo Sedan does not get an automatic AC system and features a manually adjustable aircon unit instead.

The automatic AC feature has been omitted for the Philippines market, and customers need to be content with a manual aircon system.

The Polo Sedan measures the same as the Vento in India at 4,384 mm in length, 1,699 mm in width and 1,466 mm in height, with a wheelbase spanning 2,552 mm. While VW India is yet to confirm, we think the Polo Sedan for Philippines is exported from the Chakan plant in India.

JP Orbeta, president of ACEI, said -

Volkswagen has always been known as the People's Car, and now with the introduction of the Polo Notch, the possibilities of owning a fine German car with the latest in technological advancements become more attainable for the Filipino.
