Frankfurt Live - VW Golf Sportsvan Concept says the Golf MPV is enroute

The VW Golf Sportsvan Concept is a near production ready minivan that is set to complete the Golf family sometime in the middle of next year. The upcoming product has been unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

VW say that the Golf Sportsvan offers more space and flexibility than the Golf. The car has a tall stance typical of a mini MPV but its front fascia screams 'Golf' loudly. With an accentuated waistline, the styling checks all the boxes that are required for a European car. The car, based on the MQB platform, will be the successor to the Golf Plus.

On the inside, the Sportsvan offers better space than the regular Golf hatchback. The middle row seats can be moved to and fro by 180mm and the boot space stands at an impressive 1,500 litres. The Golf Sportsvan can be seen as a viable alternative to a station wagon since it offers the same practicality and car like feel.

The mini MPV will be powered by a Euro-6 compliant petrol and diesel engine lineup with outputs ranging from 85PS to 150PS. All engines will come with Start/Stop system and are up to 19% more fuel efficient than their previous editions. The 110PS 1.6-litre TDI BlueMotion emerges as the most fuel efficient and least polluting of the lot by consuming just 3.7litres/100km and by emitting 95 g of CO2/km. (More details on the engines can be found on the press release in the following page).

Even the base version will come with equipment such as XDS+, AC, seven airbags, Automatic Post-collision Braking System, electronic parking brake, 5" touch screen multimedia infotainment system, variable cargo floor with a cover.

Higher variants offer Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), Front Assist with City Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane keeping Assistance.

The VW Golf Sportsvan guns for European customers who love practicality, safety and efficiency in a single no-nonsense package.
