The Brazilian-spec VW T-Cross will make its public debut at the Sao Paulo Motor Show 2018 that will be held between the 8 & 18 of November. Ahead of its first official appearance, a test mule of the small SUV has been spotted by Mr. Thomas of Autos Segredos.

The Brazilian-spec VW T-Cross will offer 9 cm extra legroom over the EU-spec model. A similar increment is expected in the Indian version.

The Brazilian-spec VW T-Cross will share its platform with the VW Virtus. With a wheelbase of 2.65-metres, it will offer a higher leg space for the rear passengers than the EU-spec model, which has a wheelbase of 2.56-metres. That said, much like the Europe-spec SUV, the Brazilian model will feature sliding seats that can be folded to achieve a flat floor. Going by the spy images, the T-Cross for the South American nations will sport new body panels.

The features list for the Brazilian VW T-Cross will be similar to its European sibling. It will include Active Info Display, 8-inch touchscreen for the infotainment unit, a brake pads drying system, traction control, Electronic Differential Lock (XDS), and Automatic Post-Collision Braking System.

Engine options for the VW T-Cross in the Brazilian market will include 1.0-litre and 1.4-litre TSI flex-fuel motors. The smaller unit will produce a maximum power of 116 hp at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 200 Nm between 2,000 and 3,500 rpm. With ethanol, the motor outputs 28 hp at 5,500 rpm. Transmission options include a five-speed manual and a six-speed automatic. The 1.4-litre engine will output 150 hp at 4,500 rpm on both ethanol and petrol. It offers a peak torque of 250 Nm from 1,500 rpm and comes mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Speaking exclusively to IAB, Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen India has said that the India-bound T-Cross's design won't have much in common with the European-spec T-Cross CUV.

The Brazil-spec VW T-Cross will be produced at the company's São José dos Pinhais facility. It should launch in the first quarter of next year. India should get a similar model, which will be based on the MQB-AO-IN architecture, in late 2020. The SUV, redesigned for Indian needs, will rival the Hyundai Creta and the Nissan Kicks
