Like the Honda CR-V, the VW Tiguan is made in a 7-seat version, but this version is not sold in India.

The VW Tiguan’s sales have deteriorated recently. Last year, before December, the monthly sales used to be around 100 units. In December 2018 and February 2019, only 35 and 63 units respectively were sold. In January 2019, Volkswagen had dispatched only 3 units of the global compact SUV in our market. The Honda CR-V’s sales have increased to around 100 units a month following the full model change in October, but last month, only 59 units were sold.

The VW Tiguan is available in India with a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine. This turbocharged four-cylinder unit produces 143 PS at 4,000 rpm and 340 Nm of torque at 1,750-2,750 rpm. The 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission and the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system are standard. The German C-SUV has a fuel economy rating (ARAI) of 17.06 km/l in this configuration.

LED headlamps with LED DRLs, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, panoramic sunroof with LED surround lighting, 3-zone climate control system, foot-activated tailgate, heated front seats with power adjustable lumbar support and memory function for driver’s seat and Composition Media infotainment system are among the equipment highlights of the VW Tiguan.

The Honda CR-V rival comes with a long list of safety features, including six airbags, HDC, ESC, Anti-Slip Regulation, Electronic Differential Lock, Engine Drag Torque Control, front and rear disc brakes, driver alert system and more.
