IAB reader spots the VW Tiguan on the road [Video]

Reported to launch in May.

IAB reader Sheriyar Shaikh has shared a video of the VW Tiguan testing on Indian roads without an ounce of camouflage. VW's sole SUV offering its reported to launch this May in India.

The Tiguan is VW’s first MQB-based product to launch in India, which will then be followed by the Passat. The SUV measures 4,486 mm long, 1,839 mm wide and 2,095 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,677 mm. The Tiguan is a strict 5-seater with 615L of cargo space, which can be increased to 1,655 litres with the rear seats folded down.

The Tiguan will launch with both petrol and diesel options. The latter could pack a 2.0 TDI 4-cyl turbodiesel engine producing 140 kW (190 PS/188 hp) and 400 Nm of torque, while the former is rumoured to get the 1.4L TSI engine with 110 kW (150 PS/147 hp) and 250 Nm of torque. Both variants are expected to come equipped with a 7-speed DSG, while the 4MOTION AWD system is likely to be exclusive to the diesel variant.

The Tiguan’s pricing could range between INR 23 Lakhs – INR 30 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

The Tiguan will slot in the premium monocoque SUV space, which comprises of the Skoda Yeti, Hyundai Tucson and the upcoming Honda CR-V. The Tiguan’s pricing strategy, however, could be different, ranging between INR 23 Lakhs – INR 30 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
