Minor design tweaks in store for VW's Honda City rival.

Spyshots have indicated that Volkswagen India is working on a facelift for the VW Vento, with a launch reported to take place around Diwali (October-November 2015) this year. Camouflaged test mules have shown subtle design changes, but these images from Russian social networking site Vkontakte, completely reveals the makeover VW has in mind for the Polo-based sedan that launched in 2010.

Up front, the Vento facelift (which is known as the VW Polo Sedan in Russia) gets a new triple-slat chrome grille, much like the Jetta facelift which went on sale last month. The hood of the car no longer features the cutout for the 'VW' badge. The front bumper is given new foglight enclosures which resemble those of the Polo.

The sides of the car continue unchanged, save for new wing mirrors which get integrated indicators. Note that the wheelbase of the sedan is 96 mm longer than the hatch.

The wing mirror appears to sport turn indicators, though they are separately present on the front fender as well.

Towards the rear, changes are once again subtle. The chrome strip, currently placed on the lowest point of the bootlid, is now just above the registration plate enclosure. Finally, the rear bumper gets a cutout for the exhaust tip. While interior changes are not visible, expect maybe the upholstery and cluster illumination colour to change.

VW is unlikely to make any changes to the mechanicals of the Vento. In India its offered with a 1.6-liter petrol, a 1.2-liter TSI petrol (exclusively available with a 7-speed DSG transmission) and a 1.5-liter diesel engine.

The Vento is not a global car like the Polo, manufactured only in Russia and India. Sales are restricted to developing countries mostly, with VW India playing the model's export hub supplying to Middle East, Africa, Latin America and South East Asia.
