VW of Brazil has launched a Beats edition on the new VW Polo hatchback and VW Virtus (new Polo-based sedan) sedan. Similar to the European edition, the Beats appeal to the audiophile who expect more from the in-car entertainment system.

The Polo and Virtus are powered by the 1.0-liter TSI turbocharged petrol engine with 128 hp and 200 Nm of torque.

The Beats edition adds a 300-watt sound system, an 8-channel digital amplifier, four speakers, two tweeters and a subwoofer, plus unique design details. It can be ticked as an option on the Comfortline and Highline variants of the Polo and Virtus. VW has priced it at a 2,872 Brazilian Reals (INR 52,000) option on the Comfortline and 2,278 Brazilian Reals (INR 42,000) on the Highline variants of the Polo, and 2,083 Brazilian Reals (INR 38,000) option on the Comfortline and 2,050 Brazilian Reals (INR 37,000) on the Highline variants of the Virtus.

The exterior sees a Beats logo on the fenders, red wing mirrors, red dashboard and door trim panels, and door sills. There are no other changes, and the Polo and Virtus Beats edition continue to be powered by the 1.0-liter turbocharged TSI petrol engine capable of 128 hp and 200 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. These engines are badged '200TSI' in the Brazilian market.

For India, as reported earlier, the second VW MQB-IN platform-based model could be a successor to the Vento. Similar to Brazil, the Vento successor, and all future volume oriented VW products in India, will use the 1.0-liter TSI engine. VW will manufacture this engine in India, and it will replace the 1.6-liter naturally aspirated unit and the imported 1.2-liter TSI.
