Will launch in Brazil this year.

At the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, Volkswagen brand chief Herbert Diess confirmed a new sedan named ‘VW Virtus’ (Project 270) for Brazil, that goes on sale this year. Volkswagen had released a teaser of the VW Virtus at the Swiss show, and based on that teaser, Autos Segredos has created a rendering of the car.

The VW Virtus will debut the MQB A0 platform in Brazil, and replace the VW Voyage.

Up front, the VW Virtus is expected to look like the sixth-gen VW Polo that was recently spied uncamouflaged in South Africa, and it is only from the sides and rear where the car will differ in design due to the different body style. Both cars could have design similarities on the inside too.

The VW Virtus will hit the Brazilian market as the country's first car based on the MQB A0 platform. The new platform currently underpins only the 2017 Seat Ibiza. The Brazilian publication says that the Volkswagen will likely offer the VW Virtus with 1.0-litre TSI and 1.6-litre MSI engines. The 1.0-litre TSI model should get a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, while the 1.6-litre MSI model should have a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic as the transmission choices.

Volkswagen will make the VW Virtus in Sao Bernardo do Campo, Brazil. It's only logical to assume more Latin American markets will get the new small sedan after Brazil.
