At Tamil Nadu's first independent Fiat dealership inauguration, Mr. Nagesh Basavanhalli, Managing Director of Chrysler India informed IAB that the company waited to get the Cherokee facelift which had its first public outing at the Detroit Motor Show (NAIAS 2013) in January this year. Basavanhalli said his 1,000-member strong engineering team in Chennai had a major hand to play in the development of the product.
Jeep test mules have been spotted around Pune. A two-door Wrangler, a five-door Wrangler and a Cherokee were spotted repeatedly by Indian Autos Blog readers. The most recent spotting was by our reader, Mr. Shatrughan Saxena from Pune who caught the smaller Wrangler on test.
Following the launch of the Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler, Jeep will sell a B-Segment SUV in 2015 and follow it up with the launch of a C-Segment SUV in 2016. Jeep plans to have 82 dealers in place by then.
