List of world's best-selling cars in H1 2016 revealed

F2M Global Mobility Database has released a report listing the best-selling cars in H1 2016 globally. Here are the world's top 10 cars on the basis of sales during H1 2016.

1. Toyota Corolla - 6,34,298

Unsurprisingly, the top-most selling car during H1 2016 globally was the Toyota Corolla. Toyota managed to sell 6,34,298 units of the car. However, the sales declined by 1.2% compared to H1 2015 (6,41,850).

2. VW Golf - 5,00,630

Volkswagen sold 5,00,630 units of VW Golf during H1 2017 globally, which although being impressive given the "diesel-gate" scandal, was 1.8% lower compared to H1 2015 (508,829).

3. Ford F-Series - 4,78,384

Ford sold 4,78,384 F-Series pickup trucks during H1 2016 globally, registering a 12.6% growth from H1 2015 (4,24,884).

4. Ford Focus - 3,67,479

The Ford Focus, the VW Golf's rival, witnessed a steep decline during H1 2016 from H1 2015 with the sales dropping by 16.4%, from 4,39,584 to 3,67,479.

5. Hyundai Elantra - 3,63,490

The Hyundai Elantra's sixth generation model is yet to show its colours globally, as the car's sales declined during H1 2016 from H1 2015 by 9.7% , from 4,02,526 to 3,58,602.

6. VW Polo - 3,58,602

The VW Polo is the only sub-compact car to have made it to the top ten list during H1 2016. However, the sales dropped by 1.8%, from 3,65,257 during H1 2015 to 3,58,602.

7. Toyota RAV4 - 3,46,791

Toyota sold 3,46,791 units of the Toyota RAV4 during H1 2016, 10.8% more than it did during H1 2015 (3,12,993).

8. Toyota Camry - 3,39,611

The Toyota Camry witnessed an 11.7% decline in sales during H1 2016 compared to H1 2015; the sales dropped from 3,84,421 then to 3,39,611 now.

9. Honda CR-V - 3,33,697

Honda sold 3,33,697 units of the Honda CR-V during H1 2016, 3.9% more than it did during H1 2015 (3,21,038).

10. Chevrolet Silverado - 3,07,845

Unlike for H1 2015, when the pickup truck's sales were 3,10,981, the Chevrolet Silverado made it to the top ten list for H2 2016 registering a half-yearly sales of 3,07,845, which translates to a 1.0% decline in sales.
