Yamaha Fazer 25 (2017 Yamaha Fazer 250) - IAB Rendering

The Yamaha FZ 25 is the torquiest motorcycle in its class.

With the quarter-liter naked bike launched, India Yamaha Motor now has to focus on marketing and sales. Their R&D department though might be working on their next model based on the Yamaha FZ 25. For a first look, the semi-faired Yamaha Fazer 25 (2017 Yamaha Fazer 250) has been rendered by design specialist Shoeb Kalania.

The Yamaha Fazer 25 has not been officially confirmed by Yamaha but has been termed as the next logical step.

Mr Roy Kurian, in a recent interview, said that the Fazer 250 will be the next logical step while not officially confirming the faired Yamaha Fazer 25. An exact timeline is not available as of now, but the Yamaha FZ 25 in the form of a Fazer can be expected next year.

The powertrain of the motorcycle will be the same 249 cc single cylinder, SOHC, 2 valve mill coupled to a 5-speed gearbox. An extra cog for highway cruising would be a welcome change, but that is unlikely to happen due to the cost factor. The engine is capable of producing 20.9 PS of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 20 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm.

Yamaha has also worked hard to keep the weight under check and the 2017 Yamaha Fazer 250 would no doubt benefit from this action. The naked Roadster tips the scales at 148 kg (wet) and the semi-faired motorcycle can be expected to be a few kilos heavier from the new fairing and headlamp cowl. The headlamp itself could be a dual unit going by their tradition.

The powertrain will be the same quarter litre unit which produces 20.9 PS of maximum power and 20 Nm of peak torque.

Expect the Yamaha Fazer 25 to be a few thousand rupees more expensive than the Yamaha FZ 25, which carries a price tag of INR 119,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi)
