With numerous sightings and spy pictures, the Fazer 250 is currently one of Yamaha’s most anticipated bikes in the country. The bike is a touring-friendly variant based on its naked cousin, the FZ25 and comes out this festive season.

Though they have the same displacement, Yamaha has taken a vastly different design approach for both the bikes.

The Fazer 250 nameplate is in service in the Brazilian market since 2010. However, the characters of the bikes are vastly different. While the Indian-spec has a more complex, in-your-face design, the Brazilian spec bike is conservatively styled, with the design language that’s reminiscent of the Yamaha SZ range in the Indian market.

The fuel tank holds 18.5 litres of juice and the faux side intakes add visual mass to the looks. The bike uses conventional headlamps as opposed to the LED units for the Indian market. The engine is nestled inside a double cradle frame whereas the India-bound Fazer gets the newer diamond frame as seen in the FZ25.

While the India-spec Fazer 250 is more enthusiast-oriented, the Brazilian-spec Fazer 250 is a performance commuter.

Speaking about the engine, the Brazilian-spec bike is powered by a 249.45 cc unit that is both gasoline and ethanol compatible. It produces 20.7 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 20.5 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The Fazer for the Indian market will be powered by FZ25’s 249 cc petrol engine which makes 20.9 bhp of power at 8,000 rpm and 20 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm.

While both the bikes promise healthy performance, the Indian Fazer 250 will appeal to enthusiasts with its design and features whereas the Brazilian Fazer 250 is a sporty commuter.
