India Yamaha Motor has invited the media to a press conference on 21 August to ‘unfold a brand new chapter’ on its journey in India - hinting at the possible launch of the Fazer 250.

The fairing and the windscreen will help improve the aerodynamics.

The Yamaha Fazer 250 has been spotted testing numerous times in India, and in recent weeks spy shots have revealed the motorcycle design. The testing & development appears finished, and the bike is ready to hit the dealer showroom.

The Fazer 250 is a touring-friendly take on Yamaha's quarter liter naked, the Yamaha FZ25. The bike sports a fairing with numerous cuts, twists and slashes. LED DRLs flank the headlamp, while the headlamp is an LED as well. The bike features a windshield to reduce rider fatigue by preventing wind-blasts at high speeds. The design of the rear section is similar to the FZ25.

FZ25’s 249cc SOHC engine with fuel injection and oil-cooler will power the faired Yamaha. It punches out 20.9 PS of power at 8,000 rpm and 20 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine pairs with a 5-speed gearbox. The fuel tank can hold 14 litres of juice.

The Fazer 250 could be priced at a premium of INR 15,000 over the FZ25.

Expect the Fazer 250 to weigh more than the FZ25 due to the weight of the fairing and bigger handlebar. This will marginally reduce the bike’s power to weight ratio, unless the engine output is compensated. While the FZ25 costs INR 1,19,335, ex-showroom, Delhi, expect the Fazer to command a premium of around INR 15,000.
