Yamaha FZ25 wins 2018 India Design Mark

The Yamaha FZ25 has won the 2018 India Design Mark (I Mark) by the Indian Design Council for its engineering and design. Since 2012, Yamaha's design philosophy has received the testimony for its entire range of products like YZF-R15 (2012), Cygnus Ray (2013), Cygnus Ray Z (2014), Cygnus Alpha and FZ (2015), Yamaha Fascino & Saluto 125 (2016), Cygnus Ray ZR and YZF R3 (2017) followed by FZ25 winning the certification this year.

An applicant receives the India Design Mark after following an evaluation process aimed at identifying good design that exceeds the prescribed criteria of evaluation.

India Design Council is an autonomous body of Government of India. It is established under the aegis of Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industry. The council is a national strategic body for multi-disciplinary design, and is involved in the promotion of design to ultimately make India a design-enabled country. The India Design Council is spearheading the national design direction; and is working with other government agencies, the design community, industry and education institutions to promote design in business, society and public services and developing design excellence.

Yamaha first introduced the FZ range in 2008, and the bike quickly became popular in the market. In January 2017, the brand introduced a more powerful model, the FZ25. Commenting on the achievement, Mr Roy Kurian, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. said:

The Yamaha FZ25 employs a 249 cc SOHC single cylinder mill with air and oil cooling. It makes 20.9 PS at 8,000 rpm, and 20 Nm at 6,000 rpm. Its rivals include KTM 250 Duke, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, and Bajaj Pulsar NS 200.
