Three-cylinder budget cruiser.

The Yamaha MT-09 Tracer which will carry the Yamaha FJ-09 nameplate in the US, has finally made its world premiere at the EICMA 2014, after a series of patent and image leaks.

Based on the popular mid-size MT-09 (FZ-09) platform, the tourer gets a new design. The front fairing, Yamaha says, is designed in a manner to increase the aerodynamic efficiency and reduce wind noise. The unit houses twin LED headlights which can be adjusted without the use of tools.

The large fuel tank has a capacity of 18 litres and the split seats are comfortable for long distance tours. Complementing its versatility are the long travel inverted telescopic fork upfront and rear monoshock, both offering adjustable pre-load and rebound damping. The instrument cluster is a fully digital unit with two displays.

The MT-09 Tracer borrows its 847 cc liquid-cooled inline three-cylinder engine which puts out 113 PS (111.4 bhp) at 10,000 rpm and 87.45 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. The motor is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox by means of a wet multiplate clutch.

The motorcycle comes with switchable Traction Control System and ABS as standard fitment.

The Yamaha FJ-09 carries a price tag of USD 10,490 in USA (around INR 6.43 lakhs).
