Yamaha MT-15 could look like a KTM Duke - Rendering

Could be considered for India.

The suspected naked version of the Yamaha R15, which could be dubbed Yamaha MT-15, has been rendered by Julak Sendie Design. It is based on the recent spy shots of the camouflaged test mules from Thailand and Indonesia.

The Yamaha MT-15 will compete with the likes of the Honda CB150R.

The overall silhouette is reminiscent of the KTM Duke, and the other parts of the model too carry a mild resemblance to the Austrian street fighter more than the Japanese super sports model it is actually based on.

Upon dissecting the components for a focussed look, the current R15's parts are indeed inherited on the trial prototypes which was what suggested that it was the MT-15. This excludes the mono-headlamp, single-piece handlebar, and the Up-Side Down telescopic fork, which are designed specifically for the naked version. The inverted front fork could be an equipment that will be present in the next generation R15.

The third generation Yamaha R15 could sport an inverted telescopic fork.

The naked R15 could make it to the Indian market where the Yamaha MT-03, the Yamaha R3-based naked machine, is expected to debut. The quarter litre models, the Yamaha R25 and the MT-25, are however not expected to be brought to the sub-continent.
