Yamaha MT-15 (naked Yamaha R15) makes spy pic debut in India
The Yamaha MT-15, which is, in essence, a naked variant of the Yamaha YZF-R15, has been spotted testing on an Indian road for the first time ever. The streetnaked motorcycle will reportedly launch in India later this year and will be positioned close to the FZ25 and the R15.
The 155cc naked roadster was unveiled in Thailand last October. The major styling highlight of the latest iteration includes a new LED headlamp that seems to have been inspired by the MT-09. The new model features an all-digital instrument cluster that looks the same as the on the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0.
Being a streetnaked, the ergonomics allow for a far more relaxed riding position than that of the R15. The single-piece handlebar, together with a less sports-oriented positioning of the foot set, offers an upright and less committed riding. The international-spec Yamaha MT-15 tips the scales at 133 kg, which makes it marginally lighter than its fully-faired sibling.
The Yamaha MT-15 measures 1965 mm in length, 800 mm in width, 1065 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 1335 mm. A seat height of 810 mm makes the motorcycle usable for a wide range of riders. The 10-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels are shod with IRC-sourced 110-section tires up front and a 140-section rubber at the rear.

The international spec Yamaha MT-15 shares its 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with the YZF-R15. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with a slipper clutch. Power and torque outputs are rated at 19 bhp and 14.8 Nm, respectively.
