Indonesian motoring portal, Iwanbanaran, has revealed the leaked prices of the Yamaha MT-15 in the archipelago. The prices revealed ahead of the official launch suggest that the naked roadster will carry a marginally higher tag than the fully faired Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0.

The difference, however, is not as massive. The Indonesian motoring portal reports that the MT-15 will carry a premium of Rp 100,000, which works out to about INR 500 in Indian currency. The MT-15 will be listed at 36.3 million Indonesian rupiahs (INR 1,79,359*) while the YZF-R15 V3.0 retails for 36.2 million Indonesian rupiahs (INR 1,78,864*). The prices mentioned above are ex-showroom.

Why are we reporting about the MT-15’s Indonesia prices? The naked roadster is reportedly heading to India, and we may see the motorcycle in the country in 2019. We brought you detailed images of the Yamaha MT-15 from the 2018 Thai Motor Show.

Regular readers would be aware that the 2019 Yamaha MT-15, formerly known as M-Slaz, made its global debut in Thailand on October 8 last year. Styling cues include a bug-eyed LED headlight, muscular styling and premium hardware. The most appealing feature on the MT-15 is its chassis. Being the naked version of the YZF-R15 V3.0, the MT-15 comes with Yamaha’s famed Deltabox frame.

The feature list on the MT-include an all-digital instrument cluster that is identical to the unit seen on the Yamaha R15, 17-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels, upside-down telescopic front forks, mono-shock at the rear and a lightweight aluminium swing-arm.

The MT-15 will use the same engine that also propels the YZF-R15. Thus, you would find a 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-valve motor with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation), delivering a maximum power of 19 bhp and a peak torque of 14.8 Nm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox featuring a slipper clutch.

Stopping power comes from disc brakes on both ends although the Indonesian market does not get the safety net of ABS. The Indian spec model, however, will come equipped with ABS to comply with the safety norms.

If launched, the MT-15 could retail in the same price range as YZF-R15 V3.0. The roadster would compete against the likes of KTM 125 Duke in terms of pricing while the spec sheet would put it against the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Bajaj NS200 and the Hero Xtreme 200R.
