New Yamaha NMax 155 (facelift) coming sooner than expected - Report

Just days after the Honda ADV 150 was unveiled, it has come to light that a new Yamaha NMax 155 is heading to production state soon. Iwanbanaran reveals that Yamaha Indonesia has patented the new model of the scooter, confirming the facelifted looks.

The Yamaha NMax 155 will have a sharper-looking LED headlamp console.

The new Yamaha NMax 155 dumps the old LED headlamp console for a sportier, twin LED headlamp setup. The scooter also features a new taillamp and turn indicators are also new. Besides that, the large, one-piece grabrail has been replaced with a new split unit.

The Yamaha NMax 155 is powered by a 155 cc single-cylinder, SOHC, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected mill. This engine is the same unit from the Yamaha R15 v3.0 and gets Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). The maxi scooter’s engine can generate 15.09 PS of power and 14.4 Nm of torque. There is no confirmation whether Yamaha will be re-working the engine for this update. Also, the report adds that Yamaha will be throwing in a smart key to make things premium.

Suspension duties are taken care of by telescopic fork up front and twin gas-charged springs in the rear. Braking setup includes discs at both ends. Another highlight is the 130-section rear tyre. The Yamaha NMax 155 tips the scales at 127 kg and has a 6.6-litre fuel tank. Its LCD instrumentation may be given a makeover to freshen up things.

At present, the Yamaha NMax 155 is priced at IDR 27.54 million (INR 1.36 lakhs) and a price hike is on the cards. The updated version of the scooter will also be heading to other ASEAN markets like Thailand and the Philippines. Expect it to be launched by October 2019. The NMax 155 is also expected to be introduced in the Indian market later this year. Yamaha is reportedly also working on updating the MT-25/MT-03 with a new suspension setup and instrumentation cluster.

The updated Yamaha NMax 155 is expected to be launched in Indonesia by October 2019.

Closer to home, Yamaha India has recently increased the prices of the Yamaha R15 v3.0, FZ and Fazer series. The Japanese manufacturer has also stopped selling the R15S and Fazer 150.
